What is a Freegan?

Freegans are people who employ alternative strategies for living based on limited participation in the conventional economy and minimal consumption of resources. Freegans embrace community, generosity, social concern, freedom, cooperation, and sharing in opposition to a society based on materialism, moral apathy, competition, conformity, and greed.

In Flandres and Nederlands for Peace and Love [en]

In Flandres and Nederlands for Peace and Love [en]

This Summer, in the beginning of August, I´ve been in Belgium and in the Nederlands.

I went to Belgium with other 3 Gaia activists (Diana, Luís and Lau) in order to take part in a meeting of “Youth for a nuclear free Europe”. We had 10 days full of good information, friendship and some cool actions as well. I didn´t know that the “nuclear” scene, specially when is about weapons, could be so bad ... but well, even with such a annoying panorama, the word for future is hope ... hope that´s not so difficult to find while seeing and feeling such a terrific group of young activists from all Europe together and very engaged in giving Peace a chance in our world, planet ...

Even the cops that followed us all the time seemed to have some kind of simpathy for our cause ... and inner inside, every human being knows that Peace is the only reasonable solution for conflicts, and also the only way to happiness ;O)

We really had very happy times in Belgium, specially while ciclying (part of the actions was a very cool bike tour) in the beautiful countryside, and for sure we will still have more and more, when we get rid of all dirty nuclear weapons and atomic power plants ...

So lets get ride of nukes!

Perhaps soon I will have some cool pictures to show wheter in the blog, in ringo or such ...

Afterwards I went to Holland, to Arnhem, to visit my Grandparents after a long time without meeting each others ... it was really very special time that I spent with them ... also that we also had the visit of my little sister, Mimi from Hamburg, and for sure these will be times that I will never forget ...

Holland, as everyone more or less knows, is also such a terrific country for bikes ... bikes are extremelly happy there ... and well, in general it´s very nice country with very nice people ...

I think that people there have very good conditions and good life standarts ... but of course happiness is not as simple as that, and I guess that´s the interesting part of it: its secrets, that after all, perhaps, are no so secret as they might seem ;O)

Now back to Portugal and to action, there are millions of important things we can do “here” and “now”, and I´m trying to keep that in mind ;O) so first of all I feel like hugging and kissing all the beautiful beings that I´ve been long time without seeing, feeling, smelling ;O)

And of course ... there´s nothing like hugging and kissing (and specially etc ;O) our “little princess” after such a long time away from our castle ...
